I've always held multiple jobs and so I collected just about any skill I could. Carpentry, tailoring, barbery, drywalling, small appliance repair and more. I always loved dog training the best and, after working hard to set myself up, I'm finally able to focus on dog training exclusively. Now I can offer 100% of my passion, focus and attention to detail on the work that matters to me most.
I started this journey in 2017, taking a chance on training a puppy to become a psychiatric service dog. Since then, I've expanded my knowledge and experience with dogs to be able to work with them on goals from house training and basic obedience to major behavior modification and tasking as a service dog.
Short answer: I'm autistic.
Long answer:
I have an excellent memory and a particular talent for pattern recognition. This means that I am very good at recognizing things other people don't see and I can recall information in highly specific detail. Because of the way my brain is wired, I can't proceed on any decision without a sense of all possibilities, and to truly know all the possibilities, I have to do deep research. Once I learn something for one project, I will always be able to recall it. As a result, I've got a lot of knowledge about a lot of very different subjects.
I started learning about dog training in 2017 when a friend of mine needed help training a psychiatric service dog. They could not afford to buy a dog that was pre-trained and they decided that if the dog never was able to become a service dog and only ever managed to offer emotional support, that would be sufficient. After working with me for six months, their dog was ready to accompany them to the office, on the subway and to restaurants and I was ready to keep training. Since then, I've worked with many types of dogs with many different goals. All the dogs I've trained have had their problems, but I can see every factor and address the root of the problem to help them overcome it quickly and permanently.
Bees represent industry, wisdom and creativity. As pollinators, they act as intermediaries between different worlds, helping plants and animals to live in harmony because of the connections they make. I've lived my life at the intersection of different communities and my connections have made me and those around me stronger. The latin name for honeybees, apis mellifera, was the inspiration for my last name.
I'm a millenial, a trans man, and a Capricorn. I'm autistic, creative and I try to be kind. I work when I can and I rest when I'm tired. I'm good at many things, but bad at self summary.
